Yet the space itself plays an integral role. Telluride Arts’ HQ Gallery is neither a historic theater (looking at you, Sheridan Opera House) nor a spacious, modern one (cue the Michael D. Palm). Yet it is currently making the most of its small size: the gallery, which functions as a vital cultural outlet for this community, has been transformed into a “winter wonderland” pop-up space for the holidays.
New Year’s Eve (NYE) in Telluride kicks off with the traditional torchlight parade where Telluride Ski and Snowboard School instructors meander down the mountain with torches lighting up both mountainsides beginning at 6:30 p.m.
With the busy holidays ahead, local musicians are eager to entertain through the New Year. But given that most of these musicians are also busy themselves with primary jobs, family and social lives, schedules are difficult to blend among band members, and paid gigs in small venues are hard to come by.
Among the highlights: ‘Thoughtful, beautiful’ works in conjunction with Original Thinkers, and landscapes near and far
